Back in September I was commissioned by MKTG to cover the fan appreciation events surrounding the Charlotte Football Club and their title sponsor Ally Financial. I spent several days capturing all the events scheduled. Starting with a visit from Team Captain Christian Fuchs to the Ally Financial Charlotte office. He gave out swag, tickets, autographs and one lucky employee got a shoulder massage. The next event was the Hispanic Heritage Block party featuring a Charlotte FC team autograph session, food trucks, vendors and tons of fun for all ages. Ally even had an activation station for attendees to take a shot on goal. The party went on into the night and was highly attended.
Following the block party was a ceremony to christen the new mini pitch at Idlewild elementary school. The students were thrilled to get out of the class to play and get some cool gifts. The kids really enjoyed their new scarfs and shirts. The highlight had to be the mini game they played. Christian Fuchs made another appearance as did team mascot Sir Minty! They each picked teams and it was time to play!
The coverage came to an end at the final Charlotte FC home game. Ally employees took the field to wave banners at the start of the game. Even a few kids of Ally employees joined the players on the pitch during the walkout. This game proved to be historic as Charlotte FC player Daniel Rios scored 4 goals against Philadelphia Union. Everyone probably knows that 3 goals is a hat trick but many in attendance including myself learned that 4 goals is called a haul. An absolutely incredible way to end the last home game of their inaugural season!
